Reconnect, Recommit, Reenergize at 2022 Leadership Summit
Jul 8, 2022

When the best minds in health care come together on a national stage you can count on sparks flying, great discussions, new ideas emerging and the entire profession taking a step forward.

That’s why AHA is pleased to host — in person for the first time in three years — our 2022 Leadership Summit, July 17-19 in San Diego. In this period of great challenge for our world, our nation and our field, this year’s theme, “Where Leaders Face the Future,” is a very timely one.

Over three days and spread across dozens of roundtables, plenary sessions, fireside chats and expert topical tracks, distinguished health care leaders will address in different ways the core question: How do we face the future as we begin to make the pivot from our laser-beam focus on fighting the biggest public health crisis in the past 100 years?

The challenges we face are well known. They include dealing with workforce shortages, a surge in inflation, cracks in the supply chain and a backlog in deferred care…all while ensuring the financial sustainability of hospitals and health systems so they can continue to serve the patients and communities who depend on them.

At this year’s Leadership Summit, attendees will benefit from the latest thinking on these subjects and many others as speakers present transformational strategies and innovative approaches for:

Delivering better care and greater value;
Ensuring financial stability;
 Enhancing public trust and confidence;
Addressing workforce challenges; and
Improving the health care consumer experience through operational excellence, creative partnerships and redefined delivery models.

Special features this year include the AHA Leadership Summit Startup Showcase, presenting quick-fire presentations from six leading early stage companies that are developing novel solutions to address health care’s most complex and pressing challenges.

And the AHA Story Booth, where we can capture on video your inspiring stories about the impact you are making in the local community and how access to services will be jeopardized without further action by policymakers. This plays a key role in our advocacy efforts so please stop by and share your story.

In addition, we’ll also provide a Washington update on how the midterm elections will determine the balance of power in Congress and the fate of President Biden’s legislative agenda. Stacey Hughes, AHA executive vice president of government relations and public policy, joins Democrat Harold Ford Jr., a former U.S. representative from Tennessee, and Republican Scott Jennings, former White House Deputy Director of Political Affairs to President George W. Bush, for a discussion on races to watch, key issues and political predictions.

And as with all AHA events, there is plenty of time built into the program for networking and connecting with colleagues to share insights and best practices on issues important to everyone.

We look forward to seeing many of you in San Diego and sharing key strategies with the field as we strive to achieve our vision of a just society of healthy communities, where all individuals reach their highest potential for health.

Rick Pollack, President and CEO, AHA
