Medicare COVID-19 hospitalization rate 50% higher for adults with disabilities

COVID-19 hospitalization rates are about 50% higher for adults eligible for Medicare because of a disability than for other adults enrolled in Medicare, according to a study released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. COVID-19 hospitalization rates for both groups increased by age. Among adults with disabilities, American Indian/Alaska Native enrollees experienced the highest hospitalization rate. The study looked at hospitalizations between January 2020 and November 2021.
