In the AHA Stat Blog, AHA experts take a deeper look at the latest RAND report on hospital pricing. In addition to its “fundamentally unsound” underlying premise, the report includes claims for just 1.2% of total inpatient admissions and omits inpatient data for more than one-third of the hospitals in its sample. 

“No matter how you slice it, this is a small share of what actually happens in hospitals and health systems in the real world,” write AHA’s Aaron Wesolowski, vice president of policy research, analytics and strategy, and Benjamin Finder, director of policy research and analysis. READ MORE
